Jordyn Wieber: A Year in Review

Congrats goes to reigning world all-around champion from gymnastics Jordyn Wieber for becoming Universal Sports female athlete of the year. I have enjoyed watching this athlete ever since I first saw her in 2009. It just amazes me the gymnasts the Untied States have created over the years....Mary Lou Retton, Kim Zmeskal, Shannon Miller, Carly Patterson, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin and now Jordyn Wieber. The time couldn't be better for this young athlete though keep in mine it has been a rarity for a reigning world champion to go to win the olympic title, last time that has happened was back in 1996 when reign world champion at the time Lilia Podkopayeva went on to win in Atlanta. Since then no reigning world champion has never done that, lets hope Jordyn can break that streak. She will be challenge by at least 2 russians (Komova and Mustafina) and a Chinese (Yao Jinnan) but I think that will motivate her even more to do well. I congrats you Jordyn Wieber and I look forward to seeing you do well here in 2012 and making USA proud.
